Foley Audio

The last thing to complete this activity was to record some sound. We hooked up the Rode directional microphones to the DSLR cameras and used these to record the audio. We did this with the lens caps on the cameras. We then returned to the places where the recordings were made and began recording the sounds. Firstly we recorded the ambient noises of the environment and then we recorded the footsteps and the door handles and doors opening and closing. This was all timed perfectly with their edited footage which they had playing on their laptop computers. The audio was then added and matched to the corresponding clips in Adobe Premiere Pro.

I think we were all amazed by how much better our videos were with some good quality audio added to them.

Here is the final result from one of the groups.

Well done everyone! This exercise taught us a lot about film making and editing.
